When the posting constructs rival atmosphere between Serena and Blair, it would succed to attract numerous readers resposes than other postings about love affairs or relationships between characters. On Oct. 8th and 10th, many readers show their emotional feelings as well as opinions toward the target character. One reader even wrote a warming note in respose to Serena. As following,

Another reader imitated Gosssip Girl who is the real blogger to gossip about affairs around Upeer East siders.

The voice-over in the clip is exactly the blogger herself.

Many readers don’t use simplified words but Some of them wrote response with lots of simplified words such as 2(to), cus(because), n(and) and so on. According to it, I presume some of the readers who use simplified words a lot are young people or people from the lower economic class.

xoxo

what does it mean?
xoxo is all the way putted in the end of gossip girl's posting.
Actually it represents kiss and hug to show friendliness and nearness.
"x" sounds like "kiss" and "o" looks like the way we hug each other.

http://gossipgirl-blog.cwtv.com/index.php?paged=13 (The kink of theis article will be changed according to its order in the blog once there are other new postings added to the blog. So the better waw to access to this posting is based on its posting date. )

As long as the blogger create the air of competing between two female characters, Serena and Blair, it will probably give rise to lots of comments form the reader.

On Oct. 1, the blogger posted an article to appeal to the reader to choose a team from Team Serena or Team Blair and decide who is going to be the queen. This posting attracts over 700 readers to declare their stands and defend their queens. On the comments, many readers use bad words and emotional expression which are used in the series a lot such as bitch to express their opinions. Many of them also used “all the way”, “ xoxo” and abbreviation for name in their comments like the female characters did in the series. They are obviously influenced and internalize what they heard in the TV series and then perform in their daily lives.

Here is the consistent opening of "Gossip Girl."
The opening is alwalse told by the blogger of Gossip Girl.

The same signature the blogger uses at the end of every posting makes its readers feel like they are inside the play. The blogger often posts something about plots but keep it open-ended to the audience. It serves as a way to induce the reader to discuss the plots and give out their opinions. She also provides information about characters’ favorite spots. We, the readers of the blog, feel like in the play and the series seem to come true in our real life. The reality and play interweave each other through the blog and the blogger.

lThe posting I show below is an open-ended article and it attracts 72 comments from the reader.

Blog Obsevation--Gossip Girl

Gossip Girl http://gossipgirl-blog.cwtv.com/

Gossip Girl is a recently famous TV series and I believe it will become the next Sex and the City before long. Actually, many audiences have been addicted to it since it popped up. It is about a group of teenagers’ life who study in the same senior high school in New York and the two main female characters, Serena and Blair, are extremely wealthy and beauty. Those complicated relationships, accidents and gossips interweave all of them and make up the whole story. What an interesting point is that the story is entirely told by a blogger who set a blog named “Gossip Girl” spreading daily gossips around the school. Everyone can also provide gossip sources to the blogger and she will update gossips on the blog immediately. Therefore, every student of the senior high school acquires newest information from the blog but no body really knows who she (the blogger) is. She is the voice-over in the series who tell the story out as well and always signs “xoxo gossip girl” at the end of her posting. The real blog which I observe uses the same signature at the end of her postings, too.

Annotation:Integrating internet-based reading materials into the foreign language curriculum: from teacher-to student-centered approaches

When it comes to language learning, there are a variety of ways to provide resources; with the swift development of internet, people could easily get learning resources outside the school by themselves. Nevertheless, if online reading material is undoubtedly a good source and approach should be reconsidered.

As Brandl mentioned, the hyper-liked structure and presentation of information on the internet may easily cause students to get lost. Because of not only students’ low proficiency of a target language but also the lack of ability to sift and organize too much information on the internet, students get lost easily. Activities relating to the target language such as preparing a Japanese meal, arranging a trip to Madrid will stimulate students’ enthusiasm and interest and make them immerse into the culture. Language learning which accompanies cultural learning would be more effective. But the students who are going to complete the activity through Internet should bear the ability to select and integrate much information if the teacher does not assign websites. Internet resources could also be useful for beginners because it provides sound effect, visual aids as well as related cultural information to lead the beginner and they can practice the target language outside the classroom by themselves even though there is no tutor beside them.( http://www.languageguide.org/espanol/)
In addition, they can download music or broadcasts to put in the Ipod or mp3 as well. (http://spanishpod.com/lessons)
On-line games will increase interest of learning for students.(http://www.otterarchives.com/bounty2/)
In some websites, they could watch cute and interesting vedio clips of the target language.

Teaching and learning promotes each other because the open-ended structure makes the teacher prepare for a wide variety for less predictable answers from students. Students who bear the schemata will learn more effectively and the interaction among the class will be vibrant.
In general, internet-based reading materials provide us numerous opportunities to contact what we need and the text show that most adolescents are good at search and browse websites. Nevertheless, for a remote area where the usage of Internet and technology products are not widespread, students are not equipped enough to receive knowledge form the way of Internet teaching.
